The Smuts Fund offers one MPhil scholarship per year covering full fees and living costs for 3 terms.

Those who meet the nationality criteria of the award, studying for the following MPhils would be eligible:

• MPhil in World History

• MPhil in African Studies

• MPhil in Modern South Asian Studies

• MPhil in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies by Research (South Asian Studies)

Nationality criteria:

Please note that there is no separate application process to be considered for the Smuts MPhil award, eligible candidates will be automatically selected and considered from a shortlist as part of their graduate application to the University.
